The cotton Arms Public House.

What a brilliant week end at Cotton Arms, Wrenbury turned out. Sunshine all day Friday giving a warm welcome to all members at NWDA meet. 27 units in all. As the D A had the hall booked for Friday 27 members had Fish, Chips & Mushy peas from the Cotton Arms in the hall together, “mmm” Lovely. The meal followed with music & conversations. Catching up with old & new friends. Saturday dawned in brilliant sunshine which stayed with us all day. In the afternoon we were visited by two beautiful hand made steam engines ( see photo’s). The two gents were thrilled to bits that we were all so interested in their pride & joys. So we had our own Flying Scotsmen on site !!! As it was such a lovely day a lot of the members went off site, either on foot or in their cars. On foot, of course that great walk along the canal.  From 6pm we all went into the hall for our “Bring your own supper” so that we could eat together. The water urn simmering away so that we could have a cuppa. As the week end was to raise some money for a charity, “Ronald McDonald House” who give accommodation to families whose children are in hospital, we had some money raising games. Guess the Teddy Bears birthday (Bubs won). 50/50 The second half was shared with Joy & Angela, Ten bags with objects in, so guess the contents. Only one member guessed all ten correct & that was Joy, plus a raffle. A meeting with Ronald McDonald is to be arranged to present the money. All this was followed with Bingo having Roy as caller & Glyn checking. Neil was celebrating his 50th birthday, so Joanna had a lovely choc birthday cake for him while everyone sang Happy birthday. To finish the evening, Glyn thanked everyone & this was followed with music & singing.

Thank you Bubs for the report, and Bubs and Alan for the pictures

Four Winds Caravan Park THS

What a week of mixed weather, just as was forecast for Bank Holiday week end, wet & windy. Our Thanks to the 19 units that braved it out & that includes the DA long standing members Michael & Evelyn, as this was the first time for them since May last year due to health problems. Lovely to see them back again. The last weekend another 14 units joined us which was great. The tenting families bringing 11 children, & Grandparents bringing a further 6. As the photo’s show they had a fantastic time all playing together. Once the tents were up on Friday evening Kevin had them making the beef burgers for their BBQ. On Saturday everyone went off site, exploring the area, also to the beach, paddling & making sand castles. In the evening the tent families were back, with all hands on deck making spag bol. The photo with the 3 little ones cuddling what looks like fluffy toys are real puppies Ahh!! Sunday when everyone packing up to go back home or on to another meet the sun starts to shine.

Thank you Bubs for the report and pictures

Lady Willingtons Caravan Park

This was our first visit to the new venue at the Lady Willington Lodge Camping and Caravanning Park at Horsemans Green Shropshire

It is a really lovely site and the owner Pam was very welcoming. Unfortunately  there were only 4 units that turned out for the meet ,perhaps because the previous week end it had been the Regions AGM and the following week end it was  the Bank Holiday week, We had a very small coffee morning on Sunday and welcomed some returning campers who had decided to give it another go after a few years without a van, so we are hoping they will join some more NWDA meets again really soon.

Thank you for the report and pictures: Janette.

Llangollen THS

What a brilliant meet we had this year with 9 days back to back sunshine in this lovely area of  Wales .We had a total of 91 units visit us altogether from various parts of the country. On the Thursday afternoon when the stewards arrived to set up and get organised we were greeted by Mark the landowner and his crew who were still bailing the hay on the field, so we had a nice lawn to pitch on as soon as they had gathered the bales in. Everyone did their own thing  be it walking, cycling, using the local bus or their own transport to get around this beautiful area . we organised  bingo session one evening and had a raffle , there were lots of BBQ s going on all over the field making the most of the long warm evenings which were often finished off by the arrival of the ice cream van that visited every evening about 8 30 pm. Thanks to our other stewards Sue and Roy Edge for all their help could,nt have done it without them.

Thank you Janette for the report and pictures.

Bron Eifion, Criccieth

We arrived Thursday 26th May to set up ready for the influx of campers on the Friday morning. The sheep had long since left and the field was unusually clean and dry. Friday 27th May  saw the first of our arrivals, and the weather held until early evening when we had an hour of light rain, surprisingly that was all the rain we saw all week. The weather was the best we had seen in years.  We had the usual Sunday coffee morning with a raffle. Most campers were out on the beach during the day which is only a short walk away, or catching the local bus or trains to Portmadoc, Aberystwyth or pwllheli. on Sunday 5th June the site closed. A good holiday was had by all. See you all again next year Friday 26th May to Sunday 5th June 2017.

Thank you Neil for the report and Neil and Glyn for the pictures

Abergwynant THS

The THS at Abergwynant began with sunshine on Friday & Saturday, welcoming members from Hampshire, Loddon, Devon, S.Wales, L & SWL, L&C, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Essex, N.Staffs, Shrops, Leics, Wilts & our own NWDA at this lovely location. The Wilts members are Will’s cousin, so that was a lovely surprise. Sunday morning we were able to have Coffee morning before the rains came early afternoon. This continued until Monday lunch time. The walkers, cyclists that had enjoyed Fri & Sat sun were out again. Many using the Mawddach trail along the estuary to Fairbourne, & taking the train, ferry or walking across to Barmouth. Once there having a well deserved drink, and, or a meal. Many having “Fish & Chips”, Will’s favourite, making him jealous, although John & Christine brought him back some one evening. “Lovely” Not only is Abergwynant area great for walks & cycling, but also Bird Watching. One family were so excited as one evening they were sat outside & a NIGHTJAR came from the woods & flew over them. WOW. This was their first sighting of a Nightjar. Come Saturday, as rain was forecast for the week end some members started returning home. By Sunday evening there were 8 units left on site. We had a nice dry evening for the final packing up. Will & I would like to thank all the members for making this meet once again a pleasure to steward, also our Thanks to those who kept offering & getting food supplies for us.

Thank you Bubs for the report and pictures.

Eisteddfod Llangollen THS
What a great five days was had at Llandyn Hall Farm site for the International Eisteddfodd at Llangollen.. The sun shone for most of the time allowing members to walk along the canal or take the bus into Llangollen every day. The sights & sounds of the Eisteddfodd (Music, Dance, Singing & Choirs) in the town up to the Festival Field. The main Parade of Nations has been held on the first day, Tuesday, but this year it had been changed to Friday. At 4.30pm the Parade started walking through Llangollen to the Festival field, WOW, the colours of all the World National Costumes & flags with the music & singing was inspiring & heart warming. The photo's that Alan & Diana took showing just a small idea of what the procession was like. This happens every year, making many visitors to return year after year. Members that joined us for the first time said that they will definately be coming back again next year which we look forward to.   Happy camping to all,  Will & Bubs

Thank you bubs for the report and pictures.

 The Olds School House, Moelfre

What a great 5 night meet we had at The School House, Llanallgo near Moelfre on Anglesey. Although quite windy on the first day, Friday, members set up. There was just one tent with Sharon & her two girls, Mia & Lily. Most of the work done by Sharon herself, but with a little help from her Mum, Dad, Glyn & Will holding down the tent whilst she pegged down. Saturday saw the hot sun arrive which stayed with us until Tuesday night. Heavy rain, thunder & lightning started about 3am Wednesday but by 9am it was all clear again for everyone to either go home or carry on their camping. As the weather was so good everyone were going out exploring the island or going to the beach with their picnics. We had a couple joined us from Germany & they cycled to Penmon Point beyond Beaumaris one day. They went on a boat trip around Puffin Island looking out for the Puffins, & yes they saw Puffins. It made their weekend on Anglesey with NWDA

Thank you bubs for the report and pictures .

Cwybr Fawr

Another great meet at Cwybr Fawr, Rhuddlan, Rhyl. Visitors from far & wide. One couple from Kendal stayed for one night, followed the next day by their Daughter, Son in Law & two Grandchildren to take over the ‘van for the week. Mum & Dad returning to tow the van home again. (The family are also Club members) The usual large Car Boot on Saturday’s & Sunday’s attracting a lot of members. One lady celebrated her birthday & her husband treated her to a portable vacuum cleaner & wind break. And they say romance is dead !!!!!! Saturday evening we had a game of Bingo, & Sunday, morning coffee. Will selling raffle tickets for prizes that we donated & raised £43 for the DA. One day Brian & Co were walking to Sainsbury’s & saw a ladies wallet fly off a car roof as going round the roundabout. He heroically stopped the traffic to retrieve the wallet. On looking in the wallet there were cards & a name but no phone number. I phoned the police for Brian giving details. Hour & half later police on site to collect the wallet. The owner had reported the loss. A happy ending. Which brings us to say, Many Thanks to Janette & Noel for helping us when Will was in A&E all day Monday. Happy ending there also

Thank you Bubs for the report and pictures

Hendra Caravan Park THS

What a great surprise we all had when arriving at Hendra CP, Pine field. All the pine trees have gone, replaced by a lovely wooden fence, laurel bushes & saplings. All agreed by the David Ballamy foundation. Also bird boxes along on the fence. It has made the whole field much lighter which was much appreciated by everyone. The weather was kind to us most of the time. The last day was the first day that raincoats were needed. One evening in the first week we had a great raffle. Our thanks to all that supported it & also those that donated prizes. As Noel & Janette are celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary in October we had a get together with wine & cake. Another evening, a game of Bingo. Of course at Hendra, one weekend a Blue Grass Festival, & the following weekend Newquay Beer Festival, hosted by Newquay Lyons. Thank you to all members for joining NWDA, making it a pleasure once again to steward. Hope to see many again next year from Sept 3rd - 24th.

Thank you Bubs for the report and pictures.

NFOL Malvern.

August Bank Holiday Will & I went to the NFOL at Malvern. The first time for 14 years. We met up with working party members that we worked with from 1997 - 2002. We thoroughly enjoyed everything including the Mardi Gras & Torchlight Parade. The Pennon parade on Monday morning before the Closing ceremony we joined Peter & Pat Welfare. For the last 20+ years, Peter & Pat have carried the NWDA Pennon in the parade. There were NFOL regulars making comments to Peter, they had noticed the lovely new NWDA pennon.  Next year NFOL will be at Hickstead & 2018 at Arley Hall, Cheshire.

Elm Cottage, Halloween

A great Halloween week end meet NWDA had at Elm Cottage. Saturday evening started with pumpkin judging. Charlotte & Ashley winning. This was followed with apple dunking. First up was Alexandra getting the apple, then face in the icing sugar to get the marshmallows. Andrew then taking a turn, followed by me (Bubs). As you can see, we are all still smiling. Next were the Witches, Ghouls & Ghosts. First a parade of the young ones in their great outfits. As the judges had difficulty choosing a winner, they were all considered winners receiving a prize. Then the adults with Vicky & Derek declared the winners each receiving a bottle of wine.  The evening carried on with music & dance. Thanks to Alan & his assistants for the music. Not sure if this is a first for NWDA, but one little camper came with her Mum, Vicky & Grandparents Derek & Denise, Skyler at just FIVE weeks old, dressed as a little pumpkin. Sunday after coffee morning, everyone making their way home again. Our thanks to Alan & Di. They had their daughter home from Alaska but still came out with the music.

Thank you Bubs for the report and the pictures.
