Meets & THS Gallery 2010

Helsby Social Club

We arrived here around noon on Friday, set up shop.  Soon people began to arrive on a pleasant afternoon continuing until after dark, ending up with 16 vans (very pleasing).  In the evening a few of us went into the club for a pint or two before retiring for the night.  On awakening we found it had been hailing heavily and all was white making everything look good.  During Saturday everybody was catching up with all the gossip and going off doing their own thing and in the evening most of us went in the club for a drink and to enjoy the entertainment.  Sunday we  held our coffee morning in the club with more chatting, then it was time to thank the stewards and all for coming and slowly all went off on their own sweet way

Thank you Alan for the report and Margaret and Diana for the pictures.

The Newnes Caravan Park.

As this was the first time that NWDA has visited The Newnes we had 14 units out. Everyone was able to have electric hook ups, this was welcomed at this time of year. The views from the site are spectacular as the site is up on a plateau. The sun shone for us most of the weekend. The walk into Ellesmere and the canal is only a 15 minute walk. Enjoyed by everyone.

A great coffee morning was held on Sun 30th May being well attended and enjoyed by all. The weather was fantastic for the duration of the meet.

 The Duck Race, Llwyn-Yn-Hall.

We opened on Friday at noon & soon had people arriving on a beautiful sunny day & by late evening  we had 30 units.  On Saturday we had paddling pools out to all the children’s delight, splashing about with a lot of water pistols being used!  Then as there wasn’t much water in the river, after moving a few stones to make a way down river we had a  shortened  Duck Race.  As the Duck Race is mainly for the kids we decided to have two winners one for the kids and one for the older children and giving all the kids taking part in all the games a little medal.  In the evening most of us went into the gazebo for bingo and the raffle draw, with some staying on until dark enjoying a drink and catching up with all the gossip etc.  Sunday we had our coffee morning with a lot more chat, and Glyn updating us on what is going on over the next few weeks.  Then most people slowly packed up and went on their own sweet way.  Only a few units stayed for the full duration of the meet even though it was wonderful weather all the way through.  It was nice to see Pete and Pat out with their new caravan after losing their other one to fire at Llangollen.  It was inspected by many who decided it is a beautiful van.

Thank you Alan for the report and Alan and Mel for the pictures.

After a very windy wet Thursday night we opened at noon on a windy but lovely sunny afternoon and by evening we had 11 vans with people coming from as far afield as Salisbury & Sheffield, Saturday was a reasonable day with some going off on lovely walks seeing some great waterfalls etc. During Saturday afternoon we had two lovely ladies coming along representing the local communities produce  and giving each caravan a goody-bag containing a breakfast for two (eggs, bacon, sausage and rapeseed oil to cook it in) all paid for by the EEC to promote Rural Communities. Our coffee morning was attended by all of the campers a great time and chinwag was had by all over a cup of coffee or tea and biscuits. Over the next few days we have had some leaving to try and find better weather, and others coming doing exactly the same.  By the end of the 9 days with most folks enjoying their breaks, we had a total of 31 units visiting us.

The DA Christmas dinner has been gone. Another year flown by.  On Friday members began arriving, and thank goodness no rain.  Although the rally field a little churned up as there had been another rally the weekend before.  In the evening about half the members got together in the Barn Alan providing background music.  Saturday awoke to a beautiful frost.  Everything sparkling in the sun that followed.  When I peeped out at 8am there was Neil capturing the scene on his camera.  Mid morning Neil & Lena arrived in their new Motor Caravan driving all the way from Lockerbie, Scotland.  Lovely to see them again.  Six O'clock everyone was making their way for the lovely meal being served at six thirty.. There were bottles of wine on all of the tables, courtesy of NWDA.  Also Poinsettia's from site owners, which Will did his usual Each table picks a card, and the highest wins the Poinsettia. At 8.45pm Frankie Flame started singing for us until 11pm, with a 20min break. At this time the Big Christmas Raffle was drawn. Thanks to Betty for the great prizes. Sunday morning we had Coffee Morning with members booking again for 2015.
