WERE YOU THERE ?

This meet was extended to 5
days, at the (with hindsight misguided) suggestion of the stewards. Little
did they know what they were letting themselves in for in terms of the weather!
The heavy April showers began on cue as the meet opened at 12 noon on the
Thursday and continued mercilessly on the Friday as more units arrived and the
field became increasingly sodden. Nevertheless, most folk pitched without too
much difficulty, with 15 units attending in total. However, an embargo had
to be put on non-essential vehicle movement to avoid churning up the field even
more.
The weather relented on
Saturday as the AGM got underway, the venue being changed to the Griffin Inn at
the last minute owing to the village hall being double-booked. Some 30 members
attended this with a full Committee elected, and Mel Knobbs stressing that this
will definitely be his last year as Chairman so members need to put on their
thinking caps to find a successor. He will be a hard act to follow.
Another heavy downpour
greeted the coffee morning on Sunday, held under a makeshift extension to the
stewards' awning where Roy Edge took an impromptu open air shower in the rain!
However, the sun came out later in the day after a few members had departed and
the field began to dry out in a stiff breeze. Monday saw a marked weather
improvement and by the time the meet closed on the Tuesday only the gateway was
a tad iffy. Every 4x4 got off the site without assistance at their due
time, with one notable exception who got spectacularly bogged down on the Sunday
and therefore remains nameless to spare his blushes! The last unit pulled
off just as the heavens opened once again.
This is a lovely site with
wonderful views towards Moel Fammau and the Clwydians, and the site owner being
a caravanner himself makes an ideal host. He has plans to lay a hard track
within the field by the time the DA next visits, so in the event of more wet
weather we should be able to enjoy the venue to the full.

THANK YOU
MARGARET GORE FOR THE PHOTOS!
Hi folks, here are some
photos from rally April 11th to April 15th at Min-y-Coed near Ruthin.
It rained most of the rally
and some of us had to be towed on and off. Our VW van never moved all rally as
it was so wet.
As photos show we did have
one sunny afternoon so out came the deckchairs but the muddy shoes tell their
own story.
Coffee morning it teamed
down so we went under stewards awning. Roy was larking about and Val went to her
van and came back with soap and brush and started to give him a wash down in the
rain. He was very brave as it was freezing.
